Airbnb

With around half of the US market share, this is a must-have channel to be on.

Easy to set up, and many tools on the platform make it easy to start here, and you're probably already listed here.

Airbnb's guests are younger than VRBO's.

VRBO

VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owner) is the oldest Online Travel Agency (OTA). Its guests are more than likely families.

It's also easy to set up, and if you've dabbled with another channel, it's probably this one.

Out of the big three, it's the smallest channel.

Booking.com

Worldwide Booking is the biggest OTA. Booking comes from the hotel side of hospitality and expects you to know how to run your business.

Careful! You can make some pretty costly mistakes when setting it up for the first time.

Many international guests don't book anywhere else.

Google

Google has one of the largest collections of short-term vacation rental listings.

You need a property management system to get listed and a direct booking website.

Niche OTAs

There are hundreds of channels that cater to everything from camp sites to luxury villas and everything in between.

Once you know which demographic books your place attracts, look for OTAs that cater to them.

Direct Booking

Having your own website allows you to invite your friends and neighbors to book directly.

If you're running a social media platform, you should link to your listing here.
